Worshipping with soldiers on 9/11 (continued)
An unexpected presentation was made to each member of the chorus who participated. Chaplain Sampson presented to each man an Installation Chaplain’s Office souvenir coin and his personal thanks for our taking the time to be a part of the morning’s services. At the conclusion of each of our performances Chaplain Sampson challenged the soldiers to remember our presence and our singing when they are faced with difficult, trying times in the future. In particular he asked the soldiers to be aware that the members of the chorus were but a mere sampling of the tremendous support that they, the soldiers and their families, have in the communities that surround Fort Riley. I am certainly glad to have been a part of today’s activities on Fort Riley and look forward to future opportunities to show soldiers our continuing thanks and admiration for their service to our country.
