BOARD MINUTES MANHATTAN CHAPTER SPEBSQSA, INC. REGULAR BOARD MEETING - August 11, 2003, WESTBANK TOWNHOMES CLUBHOUSE MINUTES: Officers Present: Rodney Stanfield, Bob Swenson, Bill Bunyan, Harvey Kiser, Ken Brooks, Ken Garwick Officers Absent: Mike Sexton, Richard Van Nevel, Bob Ridley Others: Don Thomson Call to Order: President Rodney Stanfield called the meeting to order at 7:33 PM with the singing of "Honey - Little 'Lize Medley". President's Message: President Rodney Stanfield reminded the board that the upcoming Central States District convention in Cedar Rapids should be promoted. He indicated support for a social activity should be planned, but scheduling such an event around the K-State football home games will be a challenge. He also reminded us that a nominating committee needs to be appointed and that we should encourage others as well as the new officers to attend COTS in Omaha the first weekend in November. Secretary: The minutes of the July 14, 2003, regular meeting had been distributed by email. Copies were also available attached to the agenda. It was moved by Bill Bunyan and seconded by Ken Garwick that we approve the minutes as submitted. Motion passed Treasurer: Treasurer Bill Bunyan submitted a financial report showing the result of our financial operations through the end of July. Current memorials available are the Ray Sharp memorial totaling $758, and the Brown memorial totaling $180. It was moved by Harvey Kiser and seconded by Ken Brooks that we accept the treasurer's report as submitted. Motion passed. VP of Music and Performance: There was no report from this office since Mike Sexton was absent. Group discussion turned to our relationship with the First United Methodist Church and it was decided a single liaison needs to be appointed to represent the chapter in our relationship with the church. President Rodney Stanfield agreed to make an appointment for this position. . VP of Chapter Development: In Bob Ridley's absence, it was reported by President Rodney Stanfield that a committee was working on the grant requests submitted at the Symposium. Discussion arose considering the adequacy of the forms used for these grant requests. (Continued on page 4) |
