What a great convention in Wichita, the competition was excellent.  The Championship quartet is Two State Four however they only out-scored the 2nd place quartet Cadence by two points.  This just goes to show that Olympic races are not the only close contests.  It was really fun to sit back and listen to some very good harmony.  St. Charles won the Chorus competition again and will be representing CSD in Montreal in July.   They will use the same program they performed in Topeka when our chapter sang at that Convention. They did indicate they were going to have a big "Fire" after this trip and burn up all the Toy Land props and pajamas since this will be the last time they will compete with that set.  The Senior Quartet that will be representing the CSD is The Central Statesmen Quartet and I am sure they will represent us well.

November is just about on us and that means the Chapter Leadership is going to attend COTS.  My thanks go to all the upcoming Chapter Officers for committing to the monumental task of directing the activities and business of our Chapter.  If our Chapter

Members did not step forward and take on leadership roles our success would be hindered.  That does not mean the Chapter Officers will handle all the things that need to be done, so when you are asked to help out this next year please do whatever you can to help.

We are setting out "Sign Up Sheets" for the upcoming performances at the Chapter Meetings, which include the November Patriotic Performance (November 10th), Christmas Caroling (December 19th), Clay Center Show (February 2nd), Singing Valentines (February 14th) and our April Show (April 12th).  Please let us know if you are going to participate in each of these.

Our next performance up will be a patriotic performance, "Salute To America", at the City Auditorium starting at 2:00 PM on November 10th.  The program will feature us as the last group, which will be nice since several of us will be returning from COTS that afternoon. We intend to sing Battle Hymn, Armed Forces Medley, God Bless America and we will end the entire program with the Star Spangled Banner.  The question is "What will we wear" so here is the answer:  Black Shoes,

Tux pants, Tux Shirt, and Red Vest with Red Tie.

Where has this year gone???  It has been very busy but the several months will be just as busy.  Don and Ken are working very hard to get the music in front of us that we are going to use for all the performances and show and it will be nice to be able to "get off the music" as quick as we can.  We will start our Show Rehearsal Schedule (7:30 - 10:00) on January 16th, which is the week after the Installation Banquet on January 9th.

Enjoy the upcoming Holidays but remember "If you're too busy to sing, you're too busy."
