InCider Press, a monthly publication,  is the official publication of the Manhattan, Kansas  chapter of the Central States District (CSD) of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
The Manhattan Chapter is the home of the Little Apple Chorus.

The chapter and chorus meet  every Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the First Methodist Church Activity Center on the corner of Poyntz and  6th Street, Manhattan, Kansas.

For more information about meetings or joining call or write to the Editor. (see below)

The November Board Meeting was very productive for the good of this chapter. The board members made some decisions that will effect all of the members and I will attempt to relay most of this to all of you.

This month will have one more meeting which is when you should receive this newsletter. There will be no meeting on Thanksgiving as has been our tradition. On the December 15 meeting we will be singing at the four Senior Citizen centers in Manhattan with VLQ’S beginning at 5:00 P.M. The officer installation banquet will follow at 6:30 at the American Legion. Details on this will be elsewhere in this newsletter. The board voted to subsidize the cost of this meal so that each member and guest will pay $10 at the door to Bill Bunyan our treasurer. We will begin this week to sing our Christmas music.

The board also approved the request of the music team to begin show practice schedule on January 5.  Yes the show seems along way off but we will need to have a few Valentine song rehearsals before that big and enjoyable day, so start planning for taking that day to play with your barbershop friends.  We will need a riser crew to put up and take down the risers as the directors have need.  So volunteer or be drafted to help. Remember the show is April 29 with a pre-show performance in Clay Center on April 2.

The show committee and music team asked and received permission to have each member purchase suspenders and garters (armbands) for the spring show. These will cost each member $10 with the chapter paying the balance.

Don Thomson will soon have a list of jobs that need to be done for the show again volunteer or be drafted.

This is a brief list of upcoming events of our chapter. I am sure that I have left out or misstated some of them. Please attend each week to learn the music and keep abreast of all the events for our chapter. Keep asking those prospective members to come and enjoy our hobby. I was asked at least a dozen times before I came and just kept coming back.

The President Shares Important

Information

We will be wearing tuxes for our spring show and $inging Valentines. We have arranged for a special purchase price for a tux from the Tux Shop in Wichita at $177 ( this includes tux coat, pants, winged collar shirt, red tie and cummerbund). The chapter will
reimburse you $100 of that cost. I will need to get measurements from you if you are interested in getting a tux.  phone 785 539-6825(h) 785 532-1441 (w)
