November 2005                                                      InCider Press                                                          Page 3

With these beautiful summer-like days we've been having, it is hard to believe that Christmas is just around the corner, but in a few short weeks, it will be in full swing.  The Little Apple Chorus will be celebrating in a couple of ways on Thursday, December 15.

The Board has decided to follow much of the same successful schedule as we did last year, by going Christmas caroling to Manhattan senior care facilities just prior to our annual Installation Banquet and Christmas party.  The one significant change is that your spouse or  special female guest is also invited to SING with us during the caroling time.  Since Christmas is a special family time and guests are invited to attend the Banquet, we thought it would be fun to include them when we carol.  If they don't want to join in the singing, they are still certainly welcome to meet us afterwards for the meal and banquet.

Caroling will be done in 3 Very Large Quartets.  Arrangements have been made to begin singing at 5:00pm, and end around 6:00 at your assigned location.  A sign-up list for caroling and banquet attendance will be available starting at the November 10 meeting.  Check with your guest so we can get an accurate count for the meal, plus know who is singing so we have a balance in the VLQ's.  We will need this information by the December 1 chapter meeting.

One VLQ will begin caroling at Homestead, then move across the street and finish up at Stoneybrook.  A second will carol around St. Joseph Village, and the third at Meadowlark.  You should plan to finish around 6:00 and then make your way to the Manhattan American Legion, 114 McCall Rd., just on the west side of the Super Wal-Mart.  The cash bar will open at 6pm, and the meal will be served at 6:30.  Guests that will not be caroling with us should plan to arrive at the Legion no later than 6:15pm.  Ramblers is catering the meal, and there will be a feast of carved turkey breast, roast beef, hash brown casserole, green beans, tossed salad, rolls, desserts and coffee and tea.  The cost is $10.00 per person.  Sign up at Chapter meeting, and pay at the door.  The music committee is planning the program, and 2006 officers will be installed.

I will send an email to the membership, plus have a handout at the December 8 Chapter meeting, with all details of the Caroling, including who will be singing at which location, addresses of facilities, contact person, what to wear and where to be when.

Wishing you blessings and joy of the Thanksgiving and Christmas Festivities seasons.  Hope to be seeing you on December 15.

Christmas Festivities

A creative committee meeting was held a couple of weeks ago. A lot of good ideas came out of the meeting and it looks like we can have another entertaining show. The music is pretty well set now, but there is still a lot of work to do. The most important thing for all of us to do as chorus members is to get the music learned as soon as possible. We will be getting on risers right after the new year. We will not be able to do our riser work with music in our hands, so please do your part in learning the music soon. The order of the show songs is:

My Wild Irish Rose

Lida Rose

Danny Boy

Red Head (you will get this in a couple of weeks)

Tie Me To Your Apron Strings Again

Hello Mary Lou

Who'll Take My Place When I'm Gone?

New Ashmolian

Bring Him Home

When It's Night Time In Dixieland

He

Dream A Little Dream With Me

Here's To the Heroes (still waiting for approval)

America The Beautiful (Overlay)

As you can see, we should have seven of the fourteen songs already learned. We should be fairly close on three others. Two songs still will be introduced. The task is not that difficult. Good luck! Hope to see you each Thursday evening between now and the show!

The Songs You Should Know

As the editor of your great newsletter, I am going to try to add a new feature.    I know that a barbershopper that I live with does not know every member very well.  As the new members probably don’t know much about any of you.  So starting with this issue and starting with officers, I will feature several members with an article about them and why they like barbershop and their hobbies, interests, family and whatever they would like for us to know about them.  So please when asked send me an article or let your wife write it.  I don’t care who writes it.  Hopefully you will get to know each other better.
