Little Apple Chorus Leads the Pack Manhattan Chapter Donates $4260.00 By Leonard Purvis, Service Chairman A note of thanks is in order to the chapter board, many members and the chapter registered quartets for the fine effort toward the parade of checks. Our donation at that event of $4260.00 was by far the largest presented. The quartets alone gave $1075 which surpassed many chapter totals. The parade of checks total amounts to a little over $60.00 per man in our chapter and does not include some other donations made earlier or directly to Harmony Foundation. In addition we should get credit for any local contributions the chapter secretary will report in December for the year. Therefore I believe it is quite possible we could meet or surpass the $100.00 per man plateau again. That would be the second time in our history and the second time in a row that we have managed that. Thanks to all who have contributed and don't stop now. |

David Davis is one of the newest members of our chapter, coming to us from DeSoto, Kansas, when he enrolled at KSU this fall. David is the eldest of 5 siblings, the son of Pam and Chuck Davis. He graduated from DeSoto High School this past Spring where he was active in Football, Wrestling, Track, Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers, Barbershop, Marching and Concert Band, School Musicals, Student Council, and National Honor Society. David is too modest to list all the awards he's won so far, but it is no surprise that he's won letters for 4 straight years in Football and Wrestling, plus multiple years in Track, State Male Solo I ratings, and was a member of several honor choirs both at the district and state level. He was a member of a |

mixed barbershop quartet that won the 2002 Kansas State High School Championship Sponsored by the Kansas City Chapter, besides being on the Principal's Honor Roll eight semesters. David is a fine lead singer and already has been assigned a solo in one of the Chorus's new numbers scheduled for our Spring Performances. He is a Music Education Major at KSU and Studies with Dr. Reg Pittman. He is active in his Bonner Springs, Kansas, Elm Grove Baptist Church in both the youth groups and music program, and hopes to be a choir director some day. (Move over, Ken and Don!) Welcome David, we hope you enjoy many great years of Barbershopping, not only while here at KSU, but throughout your life. You are one who can definitely make a difference! |
