(Continued from page 2) that practice tapes should be recorded in November and that we should go to show schedule shortly after the first of the year because of the advanced show date. Discussion ensued regarding the use of Reg Pittman as chapter voice coach during the spring. It was generally agreed that Reg's sessions are really benefiting the chorus. Show Chairman: No report, Show Chairman Preston Chapel was absent. Web Development: It was reported that our website development is not moving along as expected. It was agreed that Ken Brooks and Rodney Stanfield would visit with Webmaster Bart Bartholomew about our needs to move our web presence to a more professional stance. Use of chapter or chorus name as part of the domain name is very desirable. Discussion about the current website operated by Bart Bartholomew and the distribution of the chapter newsletter resulted in a determination that members need the choice of whether to receive the newsletter electronically or in print. Old Business: None. New Business: It was moved by Wayne Bailie and seconded by Ken Brooks and amended by Mike Sexton that we allow Don Thomson to contract with Linda Uthoff and Cindy Wickman to perform in our annual show. Motioned passed. It was moved by Rodney Stanfield and seconded by Wayne Bailie that we allow Don Thomson to contract for a ladies quartet for the spring show. It was moved by Ken Brooks and seconded by Mike Sexton that the chapter meetings adjust to show schedule starting January 16, 2003. Motion passed. It was moved by Harvey Kiser and seconded by Rodney Stanfield that the chapter contribute $2500 to the parade of checks at COTS this fall. Motion passed. It was moved by Wayne Bailie and seconded Mike Sexton that the membership applications of student David Davis, and regular members Dan Otto and David Ludwig be approved. Motion passed. Adjournment: President Mike Shepherd declared the meeting closed with the singing of "Let Me Call You Sweetheart". The next meeting will be November 11, 2002 at 7:30 P.M., at the Westbank Townhomes Clubhouse. |

Music for Spring Show Well, you now have all the music that we will sing on the show. I have received a lot of feedback that you like the music, so that is encouraging. I think most of the songs will be relatively easy for you to learn. Hopefully the learning tape (which will have most, but now all of the songs on it) should be completed the first Thursday in December. If you have not used a learning tape before, I would encourage you to try it. Singing with the tape is a very good way to learn the songs. We really need to be off of the music shortly after the first of the year. We will once again provide you with a rehearsal chart, but you should be trying to get off the music just as soon as you can. This show will be a little different than the others we have done. We are doing a lot of songs with either solo and chorus, or quartet(s) and chorus. So in addition to learning the songs, you need to learn when you are to sing and when not to sing. We will start choreography in late January or early February, and it is imperative that we are off the music to learn the choreography. We will not have a lot for the chorus, be there will be more for a few small groups. Thanks for your work thus far. I think this show is going to be fun to prepare! |
