BOARD MINUTES By Bob Swenson, Secretary MANHATTAN CHAPTER SPEBSQSA, INC.REGULAR BOARD MEETING - OCTOBER 14, 2002, WESTBANK TOWNHOMES CLUBHOUSE MINUTES: Officers Present: Mike Shepherd, Rodney Stanfield , Bob Swenson, Bill Bunyan , Mike Sexton, Harvey Kiser, Ken Brooks Wayne Bailie Officers Absent: Preston Chapel , Richard Van Nevel , Leo Dreiling Others: Bob Ridley , Don Thomson Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. with the group singing, "Wait 'Til the Sun Shines Nellie". Officers' and Committee Reports: Secretary: The minutes of the board meeting on September 9, 2002, along with the minutes of the annual meeting on September 26, 2002 were presented. It was moved by Ken Brooks and seconded by Harvey Kiser that both sets of minutes be approved as prepared. Motion passed. Treasurer: The financial report for September was presented by Treasurer Bill Bunyan. Discussion centered around availability of funds and obligations of our resources. It was estimated that sufficient funds were available to cover operating expenses until our next revenue intake during singing valentines. It was moved by Bob Swenson and seconded by Harvey Kiser that we accept the treasurer's report as presented. Motion passed. VP of Music and Performance: Mike Sexton's presented a letter about our November 10 appearance at the Patriotic Function. Plans are being made for our Christmas performance at the nursing homes on either December 12 or 19. VP of Chapter Development: Rodney Stanfield reported that developments on the grant program have not moved along very fast. There was also discussion about the Brown Scholarship and its use. VP of Public Relations: Harvey reported he had tried to contact Dr. Jana Fallin regarding the discussion that Rodney Stanfield and he had about ways the Chapter can work with K-State in encouraging K-State students to sing in our chapter and obtain experience in ensemble singing. Director of Music: Don Thomson had several requests dealing with contracting with people to help put on our spring shows. He reported (Continued on page 3) |
