Over the 4th of July weekend, four members of the chapter and their wives traveled to Montreal, Canada along with 10,000 others for the 65th Annual Convention and Contests of SPEBSQSA, Inc. Bob and Telva Swenson, Leonard and Sharon Purvis, Sam and Dottie Kvasnica, and Harvey and Janet Kiser enjoyed seeing the GOTCHA! Quartet, the guest quartet for our 2003 spring show place second and Metropolis Quartet, the guest quartet at the 2001 spring show place third after three rounds of competitive singing of 42 quartets. Competing quartets came from the United States, Canada, Britain, and the Nordic countries. Twenty-one choruses competed as well. Many of you experienced the competition with us over the web cast, which is an excellent program not only having great public relations impact on so |

ciety members and their families but also for the general public. Fantastic shows presented by the Harmony Foundation, AIC, and World Harmony Jamboree. It was great to hear songs sung in competition that we have sung on our shows. We enjoyed meeting Mike and Margaret Shepherd of Des Moines. He told us he has applied to join the chapter there. As we know, the Des Moines chapter gains a great barbershopper. We do miss him. Sam and Dottie enjoyed a family reunion with their son Andrew, who earned a gold medal as a member of his chorus, Vocal Majority, Dallas, TX. See you next year in Louisville. |
