But with all this early activity, there is still much to be done.  Plan now on helping as you can to make this year's $inging Valentine$ campaign a success.  We know several quartets are already working on their songs during our pre-meeting gatherings.  If you're not in one yet, grab three other guys and start practicing.  Don't know whom to ask?  Don Thomson will have some suggestions for you, as he has identified about seven or eight possible quartets that could be helping.  Remember, all $inging Valentine$ quartets must be approved by the music leadership before being given assignments.

Even if you aren't in a quartet, there are many ways you can help.  Another important part of our $inging Valentine$  program is the driver/presenter that each quartet needs.  Again this year J. Lester Hooper will be conducting driver/presenter instruction for those who want to be presenters.  There will be two opportunities to learn this important task.  Presenters need to attend either or both of J. Lester's schools, which will occur at 7:00 PM on February 5 and February 12.

Rose Preparation is also necessary, and if you can help at 5:30 PM on February 12, contact Chuck Marr about the particulars.  Last year, we had the roses cut, inserted in vials, sleeved, and ribbons attached in about an hour.  A crew of about a dozen guys can do this again this year.

Advertising our program is very important and by far the best way to do this is through distributing our flyers explaining the program.  You don't have to sell anything.  Just hand out the flyers to anyone and everyone you know.  If they aren't interested, perhaps they'll give it to someone who is.  This year, orders will be taken over the phone (539-6333) or through the website as listed on the flyer..

And finally, don't forget the $inging Valentine$ celebration party at 7:00 PM on Saturday, February 14.  Regardless of your involvement, this whole chapter get-together is a great way to share the wonderful experiences we've gained during the past two days.  There will be food service available at the VFW Hall that evening as we celebrate another successful $inging Valentine$ program for our chapter.  Plan on joining us!

We're Up And Running!
By Bob Swenson, $inging Valentine$ Chairman

$inging Valentine$ is up and running!  Preparations are well under way to enjoy another successful season of spreading the message of love through music.  Because Valentine's Day is on Saturday, we're going to be presenting $inging Valentine$ all day Friday and Saturday, February 13 and 14.  A lot of work has been, and will continue to be done to make this season of love a success.  Harvey Kiser will be handling our media advertising.  Don Thomson is arranging the early morning radio appearance.

Chuck Marr has the roses ordered and is getting a crew ready to prepare them for delivery.  Mike Sexton has arranged for the use of the Work Force Center Conference Room for the quartet lounge. Helen Cooper and Marilyn Bunyan have begun plans for hosting the quartet lounge.  Sondra Lewis has printed the flyers and order blanks, and all the other forms needed.  Karen Nanninga has volunteered be chief clerk both days.  The crew at Manhattan Data Systems is ready to take orders.  Webmaster Bart Bartholomew has even produced the ability to order local $inging Valentine$ though our web site!
