4 for Harmony Heralds Yuletide
By Bart Bartholomew, Bass

A new, unofficial quartet (their name has not yet been approved by SPEBSQSA) ,4 for Harmony, used the holiday season as an opportunity to gain valuable experience singing before audiences.  On December 9, they paid a surprise visit to Carolyn Dreiling's neighborhood quilting party; on December 13, they sang at a Holiday Pot-luck Supper at St Thomas Moore Church; and, on December 17, they sang at the Stoneybrook Assisted Living Center.

4 for Harmony is anxiously awaiting approval of their name, the birth of the Travis's second child, and opportunities to do more singing.

The Charades were busy during the holiday season. December started with a performance for 30 Lion's who were having their annual Christmas dinner on December 8 at Rambler's.

A short break was taken while Ken traveled to St. Augustine, Florida, where his daughter, Beth, received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.

December 17 found the Charades performing at Meadowlark Hills for a Christmas party sponsored by the Edward Jones Investment Company.

The twenty-first of December, found the group on the road as they had two gigs to perform. At 1:00 Gene, Ken, and Jim met up with Leonard in Riley where they sang a few songs to Leonard's sister and brother-in-law, along with other family members, as they had gathered to celebrate the Sylvester's Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. Back in Manhattan, they sang five songs for a Christmas wedding at the Methodist church for a couple in their mid-70's. The reception was held at the Manhattan Country Club where the guys were called upon to sing a few more songs.

President's Message:  Teach the Children to Sing

(Continued from page 1)

the next time we have an opportunity, you and I can open the world of a child with a simple ditty like; "Twinkle, twinkle little star',' Mary had a Little Lamb', 'Jesus Loves Me' or be a real Kansan and sing "Home on the Range".

Let's keep the whole world singing.

Prez Sam
