a new member.   He presented renewal membership cards to Ron Zelch-9 years, Harvey Kiser-9 years and Bob Swenson-32 years.

Pete Cooper installed the 2002 officers on behalf of the Society's president using the theme of a book titled 'Singing is Life, All the Rest is Details.'  New officers are: Rodney Stanfield, President; Bob Ridley, Chapter Development VP; Mike Sexton, Music & Performance VP; Harvey Kiser, Public Relations VP; Bob Swenson, Secretary; Bill Bunyan, Treasurer; and Ken Brooks, Ken Garwick and Rich VanNevel, Members at Large.  Rodney Stanfield gave some remarks about what he appreciated about this chapter and how he enjoys the beauty of this craft in providing joy to people through singing.

The chapter members enjoyed being entertained by four chapter quartets.  These were the Old Re

frain (a newly formed senior's quartet), the Apple Core-Tet, The Charades, and the Manhattan Music Machine.

Thank You From BOTY

By Mike Shepherd

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the honor of being named the "2002 Barbershopper of the Year" for the Manhattan Chapter.  I have the certificate hanging in my office where I can enjoy it every day.  The Installation Banquet was very spe

cial for me this year since it was my last meeting to represent the Chapter as President, but then to receive the BOTY actually rendered me "speechless".   Our Chapter is blessed with many members that deserve this award each year and it is a wonderful gesture.

The last two years have really "flown by" and I have enjoyed the Chapter along with the many activities we have participated in.  It is with a sad heart that I am announcing my job will require a move away from Manhattan and the Chapter.  My wife and I plan to move to West Des Monies, IA later this year.  I do plan to be involved in our Show in April but am not sure how much longer after.

My time with the Little Apple Chorus has been fun, exciting and rewarding I will miss you all.  The friends you make in any hobby are special but I really don't think you can find any better friend than a Barbershopper.

Thank You, again for all the "Great Times" and always

remember; "If your too busy to sing, Your too busy"!

Mike E. Shepherd
