While some of you already know him, Brian Swenson joined the Manhattan Chapter for the second time recently.  Occasionally over the past several years, a baritone would show up at our chapter meeting and the "old guard" would welcome him.  Later, newer members would wonder who was that guy.  Well he's decided to make Barbershopping more of a permanent hobby.  Robert Brian Swenson is the eldest son of an eldest son and some say he's a definitely improved model!

Brian grew up here in Manhattan, attending Eugene Field grade school and graduated from Manhattan High School where he sang with the Manhattan Pops Choir.  Always a "tecchie", he also was responsible for the Pops' sound system and received a special recognition for his efforts in that area.

Post secondary, Brian attended Manhattan Area Vocational Technical school for a while and found his real talent to be making things work, or repairing them when they didn't.  He became a certified Honda Specialist and was the only guy in the area that was qualified to handle Honda Gold Wing service calls.  When the Honda dealer went out of business, Brian was immediately hired by the Yamaha Dealer.

About a year ago, Brian was hired to run the annealing ovens at Manko Windows, but his ability to fix things has seen his job turn to plant maintenance instead.  You may remember that for many years, Brian has also been the recording engineer for our annual shows.

Brian is married to Gina and they live near St. George.  They have 3 children, 10-year-old Mason, 5-year-old Vaylnn, and 4-month-old Brianna.  He still fixes motorcycles and ATV's as a sideline, and is currently working on a home-remodeling project of major proportions.  His Dad, Bob, is proud and pleased to have him as a member of our chapter.  Welcome Brian Swenson!      Mason Robert Swenson recently joined our chapter as a tenor, thus making three parts covered by the Swenson family.  And you guessed it, Mason is the eldest son of an eldest son of an eldest son!  Perhaps as he grows older he may become a lead, a baritone, or (God forbid!) a bass!

Ten-year-old Mason lives with his family near St. George, where he attends St. George Elementary School as a 5th-Grader.  His short but enthusiastic school career has all been at this one institution, where he has always been interested in music.  Mason currently sings in Mrs. Armstead's Honor Choir at SGES.

Mason's days are mostly filled with school and homework, but he enjoys also riding his Honda 4-wheeler or helping his dad and mom with projects around the house.  His lawn-mowing skills are a little questionable, but his grandmother says he makes up for that with great hugs.

His talents seem to follow the family tradition, since Mason has his own computer, keeps a PDA, and can help both Grandma and Grandpa figure out those darn computers.   Schoolwork for Mason sometimes is not the most important part of his life.  Mason has enjoyed playing little league baseball and is a member of the scouts as a webelo.  His also enjoys family visits with his twin cousins, Tucker and Tyler.

Welcome Mason Swenson.  Just think, at age 45 you could become Manhattan Chapter's youngest Golden Oldie!   Mason is Bob’s 19th men of note.  Bob Swenson ♪
