Yes, we just keep going and going. Even with vacation schedules and other summer activities our chapter attendance has been good and guests keep showing up. Why? Because we get energized each week with this great fellowship. Our summer church performances were a big success. On four Sundays we sang in a total of 19 churches. The notes and letters from churches expressing appreciation for our involvement in worship makes the church program so rewarding. Richard Jackson did a super job in scheduling and follow through with the church contacts. We had a couple of nice family socials this summer, too. Thanks to the Nanningas, Trails, Dreilings and Thomsons for being such wonderful hosts as we enjoyed sharing food and conversation. We'll conclude the summer performance schedule with our participation in the Music Festival at Fellowship Temple on August 19. It will be a great evening of solid gospel music from individuals and groups. Then we continue to prepare for the Great Kansas Singout at the State Fair on Sunday, September 12 and the District Convention in Omaha on October 9. Following is an updated list of songs we are to sing at the fair: America The Beautiful Overlay Aura Lee Coney Island Baby/We All Fall - Medley God Bless America Hello Mary Lou Hey, Little Baby O' Mine I'm Sitting On Top of the World In the Good Old Summer Time Lida Rose My Wild Irish Rose Sweet and Lovely The Old Songs Medley Wait Till The Sun Shines, Nellie We will be giving more attention to our contest set beginning August 26. If you are able, please volunteer for the riser crew for each chapter meeting right up to contest. We encourage everyone to participate in learning the songs and choreography. Whether going to the convention or not, learning the contest songs well will equip us for impromptu performances in other venues as well. I believe this will be a wonderful opportunity to focus on some of the barbershop craft we often talk about but so easily neglect. Financial arrangements to the convention will be easy to handle for each member. Registration and contest entry fees and bus transportation will be paid by the chapter treasury. You need only to pay for your meals. I look forward to a pleasurable and rewarding experience with you in Omaha. Let's do it. Looking forward to our leadership team for 2005, a nominating committee has been appointed. Members are: Frank Carpenter, chairman, Pete Cooper, Leo Dreiling, Bill Hanson and Ken |
