Harmony College Report

     The clock in the Glen Marion Memorial Clock Tower (at left)  keeps time day in and day out as students pass underneath it on their way to and from classes at the Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, Missouri.  For one week each year, time is also kept in just about every nook and cranny across the campus.  Groups of four students, ranging in ages from 10 to 80+, can be seen gathering to sing a familiar melody and strive to ring chords in the traditional barbershop harmony style.  This special week is the annual barbershop Harmony College/Directors College sponsored by SPEBSQSA.

     During the period August 1 to August 8, Bart Bartholomew, Bill Bunyan, Myron Calhoun and Richard Jackson attended the college.  On the morning of the eighth day, with seventh chords, circles of fifths and major and minor thirds still on their mind, the foursome embarked on the return journey.  At the urging of Bart Bartholomew, InCider Press editor, the foursome attempted to identify some thoughts that might be of interest to old and new members of the chapter.
