Thanks to every member of the chapter for participating and presenting a terrific show. You all put on a good public relations effort last Saturday night as well as what you accomplished before the show. Think of all the contacts you made with community business and civic leaders in gathering corporate ad support and super patron/patron/friend sponsorship support for our program booklet. This is public relations. You do a good job in promoting our chapter and its mission. The excellent quality of the show program booklet is a public relations effort. It is appropriate to recognize persons with our Award of Harmony such as Stan Conkwright this year in that this award fits within our mission. This effort has a public relations impact. People also like to see some of our returns from these shows and Singing Valentines stay within the community. Contributions of $1,000 to the Band Shell in City Park and the grants to the public school music teachers in local communities such as Manhattan, St. George, Washington, Salina, Wichita, Lyons, and Linn fit into our mission and have a public relations impact as well. We can thank Mark Scott for writing the excellent article "Perfect Harmony" published in Arts and Leisure section of the Sunday, April 6 of The Manhattan Mercury newspaper and for the photos for the article taken by Rod Mikinski. That was a terrific boost to our program and mission. The public relations effort also included two ads the week of the show in The Mercury, the Junction City Daily Union and the Clay Center Dispatch. Ads were also placed in the McCain program booklet and also in the Manhattan Arts Council program booklets. It was great to hear Dave Lewis and Cathy Dawes of KMAN radio program speak so glowingly about the show on the Monday morning April 14. It is great to receive these types of compliments such as these. Cathy indicated it was a tremendous pleasure to sing with her quartet before a crowd like that at McCain. These comments come because you all helped put on a quality show. Now we have another opportunity for public relations with the upcoming Guest Night that Bob Ridley is organizing. Let's bring friends and acquaintances to share our hobby with us on April 24. |
