InCider Press, a monthly publication,  is the official publication of the Manhattan, Kansas  chapter of the Central States District (CSD) of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

The Manhattan Chapter is the home of the Little Apple Chorus.  The chapter and chorus meet  every Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the First Methodist Church Activity Center on the corner of Poyntz and  6th Street, Manhattan, Kansas.

For more information about meetings or joining call or write to the Editor. (see below)

Thanks to Bill Hanson for organizing a successful Open House/Guest Night on May 15.  Among the many things he did were to collect names, send letters of invitation, and prepare special name tags.  Thanks to the committee who assisted Bill in welcoming everyone.  One of the twelve guests applied for membership that night – we welcome back a former member Brian Wells.  Another person took an application a week later.

Thank you Carol Hanson for organizing the refreshments for our Open House.  We thank all of our ladies, who contributed food and flowers, arranged the parlor and hosted the guest wives.  Your contributions and assistance for these special events are most appreciated.

Our Thursday, June 12 meeting will be an enjoyable one with the Topeka and Salina Chapters.    Thank you Ken Lang and Don Thomson for arranging the schedule and preparing our music.  Thank you John Trail for your special effort organizing our refreshments.

Our chorus has the opportunity to perform several times in June and July.  We will sing for church services in Manhattan on June 15 and 29 and Westmoreland and Wamego on July 13.   Please thank Tom Fish for arranging these schedules. The efforts of all the members who contacted the various churches are much appreciated.  Thank you John Thomason for making the arrangements for our chapter family picnic, July 13, occurring after our singing.

The chapter will have the thrill to perform again on stage with the Manhattan Municipal Band in the Larry Norvell Band Shell in City Park on Tuesday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m.

The chapter accepted the invitation to perform the National Anthem for the Kaw Valley Rodeo on Friday, July 25 at 8:00 p.m., Cico Park.  The Rodeo has its “Tough Enough To Wear Pink” (TETWP) that evening during which money is collected for contributions to the Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research at K-State.  This provides our chapter an opportunity to honor our country while performing our style of music harmony to a different audience♪

A look back and a look forward By Harvey Kiser, President

Members of the Chorus and their guests enjoy singing at Open house May 10th.
