A great summer

By

John Thomason

Singing in many Churches, singing in the Manhattan City Park, singing at a picnic in the country, and Harmony University, the Little Apple Chorus has been busy this summer!  Two Sunday mornings in June were given time and talent by many members who assembled in Manhattan area Churches to "make a joyful noise".  One Tuesday evening several members performed with the Manhattan Municipal Band in the City Park.

July saw the LAC back in church again to sing 6 times between 8:30 and noon in 5 area Churches.  Singing twice in the same Church within 3 hours must mean they really enjoy our singing!  Let's take that as a compliment.  After "Church" The LAC assembled at Black Jack Recreation for the annual Summer Picnic.  Everyone was treated to a delicious meal of BBQ pork and a large assortment of desserts provided by the LAC La

dies.  After lunch several Quartets performed and then a large circle of Barbershoppers sang their favorite songs until it was time to leave.

Several members of the Chorus attended the Annual Convention in Nashville the week of July 4th.  Nashville is the new home of the Barbershop Harmony Society and what better way to start out in a new home!  All who attended reported having a great time.

Harmony University was held again at St Joe, Mo the last week in July.  Several members attended including the Late Night Edition Quartet.  Pres. Harvey Kaiser was in attendance at HU and reported that all attendees are now "much better singers".  Maybe they can teach the rest of us some finer points of our art form.

Chaz Martin and Dave Darling have gone off to seek great adventures in other parts of the US.  We wish them the best!

As summer draws to an end we can all look back and truly say "it was GREAT"!  Now we can look forward to the Fall Convention in Cedar Falls, IA and hope that the remainder of the year will be as much fun as the first 8 months!

Stay SHARP and Keep the Whole World Singing!♪
