We are trying hard this year to involve as many chapter members as possible in our $inging Valentine$ program for it truly is one in which we all can share. Let's look at the ways you might be able to lend a hand to this extraordinary project. This is a great opportunity to share our craft with the community. If this year is typical, we will make enough money to pay a large portion of our show expenses, and we will expose our quartet performances with more people than attend our show. In past years, our "Audience Count" for $inging Valentine$ has shown we've touched the lives of up to 3,000 people, and that could be almost 3 times the number that will see our show. So how can you help? Well, there's lots of ways, so let's look at them. First of all, we are offering anyone who wants to "step in" to a quartet as they present a valentine to have that opportunity. You only need to qualify by showing you can carry your part during the $inging Valentine$ pre-chapter rehearsals each Thursday evening at 7:00. To do this, ask Don Thomson for approval and you'll be set to help out. It's possible that a quartet man may end up ill that day, or may have some conflict that prevents his full participation. If you're qualified, then you're a possible replacement in that quartet for at least part of the day. If that doesn't happen you may get the opportunity to alternate performances with one of the regular members of a quartet, provided you're qualified. Of course, there are lots of non-singing opportunities as well. First off, the most fun part of $inging Valentine$ is being a presenter. These guys get to break the news to the recipients, showering them with gifts and introducing the quartet. Good presenters are the key to a successful Valentine presentation, and we have training available from the best! Super Presenter J. Lester Hooper will again be giving you the ins and outs of successful $inging Valentine$ at two schools. Both will be held at 7:00 PM on January 31 and February 7. Besides the actual presentation script, we will be explaining the "business |

end" of this operation so that you know how to handle the paperwork and properly report your activities back to $inging Valentine$ central office. Attendance at one of these two schools is mandatory for anyone wanting to become a presenter. Attendance will be taken. Besides singing and/or being a presenter, there are other opportunities available for you to help. Helping prepare the roses, helping with phone calls, hosting the quartet lounge, being a step-and-fetch-it, running extra supplies and orders to quartets already working in the field, are all jobs that become available for anyone wanting to help with this project. Of course, you are expected to hand out your share of those little red folders that advertise our $inging Valentine$ program. You don't have to sell anything, or collect any money, just give them to about anybody who will take them. Leave a few at your barber shop, the beauty salon, your favorite local restaurant, or anywhere people might see it and pick it up. Those folders are consistently the best advertising piece we do, so distribute them widely! If you don't see where'd you fit in just yet, then just ask! There seems to be always something to be done and your volunteering to help in some small way may make a great difference in our success. And finally, if you do nothing else, make plans to attend our wrap-up $inging Valentine$ party on the Evening of February 14. This is a party for the whole chapter, so whether you were able to help out or not, your support of the chapter and its quartets is requested at that party. We'll review the day according to each quartet's experiences and provide some indication of how successful our campaign will have been. It's a fun time and definitely worth the cost. What better way to celebrate Valentines day than by bringing your sweetheart to our Valentine's Day party. It will be held at the Aggieville Pizza Hut starting at 7:00, so come and enjoy the fellowship and fun as we wrap up another successful year of doing $inging Valentine$! ♪ |
