Most of you know now what your costume will be for the show.  If you do not, you can see the LAC Lady who is overseeing your section for costume selection.  They are:

Basses:    Helen Cooper and Pat Schlender

Baritones:   Carolyn Dreiling

Leads:    Telva Swenson and Karen Nanninga

Tenors and Quartets:   Joan Thomson

I would like to thank these ladies for volunteering to oversee the costume selection process.  You may see them at rehearsal from time to time, if not, you might want to give them a call and find out what you are expected to wear on the show.  We will plan to have a "costume or dress rehearsal" on March 27th.  Please mark that date on your calendar!  This should give you plenty of time to locate and acquire your costume.

As you can probably tell, our rehearsals are going at a little faster pace now.  Ken is doing a lot of teaching, and most of what he does is AFTER the notes and words are learned.  If you are absent from a rehearsal, you are really going to miss a lot of instruction.  Also, if a member is absent, it requires Ken to "reteach" the lesson, and quite possibly for that one member who was absent.  We understand that absences are going to occur from time to time, but we ask that you make Thursday evening rehearsals a priority on your schedules between now and April 26th!  We have 60 guys who have committed to singing on the show!  That's Great!...but our attendance is really essential to preparing and presenting a good show.

We now have a week break.  I think this is a good time for the break.  We now have almost all of the songs learned, and when we come back from the Valentine break, we can start with a new sense of purpose.  Hope to see you on the 21st!♪

Julie Andrews turned 69 - To commemorate her 69th birthday on October 1, actress/vocalist Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan 's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was "My Favorite Things" from the legendary movie "Sound Of Music."

Here are the actual lyrics she used:

Sing along and enjoy

Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,

Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,

Bundles of magazines tied up in string,

These are a few of my favorite things.?

Cadillacs and cataracts, and hearing aids and glasses, Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,

Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,

These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,

When the knees go bad,

I simply remember my favorite things,

And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,

No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,

Bathrobes and heating pads

and hot meals they bring,

These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pains, confused brains, and no need for sinnin', Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',

And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,

When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache,

When the hips break,

When the eyes grow dim,

Then I remember the great life I've had,

And then I don't feel so bad.

Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores

It wouldn't be funny if it wasn't so true
