Ernie Sylvester, one of our charter members, died on September 27, and his funeral was last week. Ernie was a faithful member of the lead section for almost 20 years until health problems would not allow him to participate in chapter activities. At the request of the family, Leonard Purvis, Steve Fisher, Gene Wiley, and Don Thomson sang “Shine On Me” at the graveside service. Although Ernie has not been singing with us for several years, his contribution as a charter member was significant to us in the early years of our establishment. Hopefully Ernie is already singing in the heavenly choir as music was a big part of his life for many years. |
