We have two sessions of Barbershop Harmony behind us, where we discussed two topics: Taking Pitch and Vibrato. Our third session November 15 focused on Harmony Foundation and other outreach projects. We invite any chorus members to attend, where they can gain information and/or share knowledge.

The sessions offer access to a rich fund of experience and knowledge that our long-time members bring, as they respond to questions from some of us who have limited time as members. We can take questions and answer them quickly or at length, and we can ask specialists to join us with their specific abilities to help us gain knowledge about all aspects of our challenge to grow as chorus members. For our question last week about Harmony Foundation and other outreach projects,
Leonard Purvis and Brian Arthaud-Day agreed to meet with us and share their knowledge.

Leonard Purvis served as a representative of Harmony Foundation for our Little Apple Chorus for years, and played a leading role for this in the Central States District. Brian agreed to take on this position for our chorus, and would enjoy hearing questions from the rest of us. As with our questions thus far, we generate ever more questions as we gain insight into a topic, just as neophytes should, right

?
Herewith a list of some areas that we could tackle in our discussions in future:

 District and International Organizations

-Local Organization

-Membership

-Musical Basics

-Personal Background

-Personal Repertoire (memorized songs)

-Protocol

-Quartets, etc.

-Singing Skill

Come join in. Any time. ♪

I found that an inexpensive little digital recorder worked well to record our rehearsal songs. Just switch it on, punch “record” and drop it in your shirt pocket.

The one I tried came from Radio Shack and cost $30. The sound quality was good enough for my purposes, records up to 72 hours, and it’s easy to work. With a 1/8 inch connector on each end, I plug into the headphone outlet on the recorder and the other end to my sound system. This way we can make our own practice recordings. As long as each person records during rehearsal for his own use, we have no problem with copyright laws. Good luck!

After it was all over and Noah lowered the ramp of the ark for all the animals to leave, he told the animals "To go forth and multiply."

All the animals left except two snakes who lay quietly in the corner of the ark.

Why can't you go forth and multiply?" demanded Noah

.      We can't," answered the snakes. "We're adders.♪"
