Show time"!! Those words give me goose bumps every time I think of them. How I love doing a show, being on stage facing an audience, giving my all, give it everything you got. This year’s shows (afternoon and evening) were like before. The evening show was a better performance in some ways but not in all ways. I feel we performed our best on each show. The audience new we were doing our best, they showed their appreciation with applause. But, like first timer Larry Bowers said, it’s more fun to be singing with the group than watching and listening. Whenever I get through a show, I thank God because I didn't fall down or do anything outrageous to embarrass myself. But as I think back on it the real enjoyment was in the music as always. I love it when Ken yells at us because it means we are there to improve, and I think we did on this show. As Bob Hope used to sing, “Thanks for the memories." Tom Miles ♪ |

It was great for me to sing with 59 other Chapter Members on our annual show--think what it would be like if we could add another 25 members. We can do it--all we (membership committee) need is the name, address, phone number and e-mail address of one prospective member from each Chapter Member and we can reach that 25 new member goal. See you next Thursday night! Bill Hanson ♪ |

I was very pleased with our performances this year. We had a plan for our show, and we executed it very well. Each year we have a plan, and most times we execute it well. Each year, however, we don't know if our plan is a good one until we receive comments from the audience. I felt like we connected very well with the audience again this year and their are many reasons for that. First, it starts with selecting music that our audience will like (and music we will enjoy rehearsing). Then so many other things must fall into place. I will most certainly leave something or someone out by highlighting some things, but taking that risk, the staging in very important. Pat and Paula Caffey do a fantastic job with the sets. The sets establish the visual mood for the show. I have received so many comments about the pre-show scene. Thanks to all for your sincere efforts in selecting appropriate costumes, and for "hamming it up" during that part of the show. We received high marks from both out-of-town barbershoppers who reviewed our show, for our slide presentation. Again, Bart, through hours and hours of work came up with very impressive and appropriate pictures to supplement our songs. I was pleased that we could use all of our registered quartets in the show. Each of them represented our chorus very well, but I would like to especially thank the Apple Core-tet for their contribution as they were the first quartet out of the box and really helped to get our show off to a great start with "Give My Regards To Broadway". The work by the creative committee paid off again. As often happens, we start in one direction and before we get to the end of our first meeting, we are headed in a completely different direction. These guys (some of them a little crazy, I think) are really something to work with...but a lot of fun. We had a lot of help from our distaff members again this year. They seem to want to be even more involved in future activities. It is great to have such wonderful support from them (costume selection, costume prep, make-up, back-stage, etc.). Thanks to everyone for their part in our show. We provided a good mix of "up-tunes" and "ballads"; chorus, quartet, and soloists; wonderful visual aids; and a great headliner quartet. It all added up to a very exhilarating and successful day! This is a fun time of the year for the chorus. We can relax a little before starting on our next major event. District Contest in October. Within a couple of weeks we will know exactly which two songs we will work on for the contest. We have some wonderful possibilities and it should be a fun time of preparation. I hope to see you each Thursday evening throughout the summer! ♪ |
