CSD President Don Fuson highlighted at the Presidents Council meeting at the Spring convention the four aims developed by the Society’s Board.  The aims are:

     ♪ Membership (increase and retention)

♪ Music (how to make music, make better music and perform)

♪ Outreach (alliances with other groups-Sweet Adeline's, community orchestras and choral groups, etc.)

     ♪ Financial stability

Don encouraged the chapters to follow the Society’s and Districts’ plans by carrying out these four aims.  Implementation of these aims by a chapter requires a business plan, he said.

The Society District Presidents recognizes Don’s talents.  He serves as the moderator of the District Presidents.

Don stressed that chapter vitality comes from chapters inviting other chapters to sing with them and to participate in POD meetings.  We as a chapter enjoyed having the Topeka chapter visit us last year, and there are plans for us to visit the Topeka chapter this year on June 19.  Last Fall Bill Bunyan and I participated in a POD meeting in Salina with representatives of other Kansas chapters.  We all shared information and ideas about what were going on in each of our chapters.

Additionally, Don reported that the Society is emphasizing that chapters have a Program Vice President.  As I understand it, this person would assist other officers in coordinating chapter programs. ♪

Don Fuson, CSD President, led a discussion at the conclusion of the Council of Presidents meeting at the Spring Convention about the goals and objectives related to meeting potential new members.  He asked, “How do we engage a guest to become a prospective member?”  “What do we ask the prospective member?”  Here is a summary of the questions that came from our discussion.

Do you enjoy singing?

Have you sung with other groups?

Do you sing high, low or in between?

Can you come every week?   (Our chapter recognizes
that every week is not always possible, but it is a
    goal.)

Is the family supportive?  ♪
