Terry Smith is a native Kansan, who has always stayed close to his roots.  He has lived in many places in Kansas but was happy to return to Centralia to live in the home he grew up in when the health of his parents began to deteriorate.  The furthest he was away from Centralia was Colby, where he was employed by a farmer for a year before returning to Marysville, where he worked for a local elevator for several years.  From Marysville, Terry moved to the Bern area, to manage an elevator in DuBois, NE, before returning to Centralia in 1989.  Terry has been in the farming industry in one form or another for most of his life.  He always enjoys watching nature and how she changes with the seasons.

Terry has also enjoyed singing all of his life.  While he was in high school at Centralia, he was in the choir and mixed ensemble, which performed at the state contest.  They also sang at local churches and any place where their singing was requested.  Terry sang a number of solos while he was in high school, with his last solo being at his high school graduation, where he sang, “We’ve Only Just Begun”.  Terry still sings at local churches and at funerals.

Terry began to sing in the Axtell area churches Christmas Cantata five years ago.  Terry Nanninga and John Trail finally convinced him to come to the visitation night at the Little Apple Chorus guest night.  He was “hooked” from the first night and looks forward to practice each week.

Terry and Dreda married in 1973.  She has been very supportive and has stood behind him ever since.  Together they have four children, two boys and two girls.  They have six grandchildren and are expecting another grandchild in July.

Terry enjoys farming the family farm, working for Kansas Department of Transportation, spending time with his wife and family and now, singing with the Little Apple Chorus.

For those of you reading the printed copies you may have noticed an error last time.  I inadvertently put two pictures of the same group in and did not get all three groups included.  Sorry!!  Bart caught it and the on-line version has pictures of all 3 groups.
