InCider Press, a monthly publication,  is the official publication of the Manhattan, Kansas  chapter of the Central States District (CSD) of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

The Manhattan Chapter is the home of the Little Apple Chorus.  The chapter and chorus meet  every Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the First Methodist Church Activity Center on the corner of Poyntz and  6th Street, Manhattan, Kansas.

For more information about meetings or joining call or write to the Editor. (see below)

Borrowing from a once popular song, this phrase really says a lot about our chapter.  The word "Got" is multi-tensed so it is especially appropriate in this time.

“Got" can be replaced with "had" and then we can talk about all the fun at the retreat when Scott Spilker, Ken Lang, Don Thomson and others led a wonderful 5-hours or barbershop involvement.  Our thanks to Ken Lang, Gene Klingler, Chuck Marr, John Thomason, Tom Miles, Kent Ericksen, J. Lester Hooper, and Jim Lindquist for leading small group discussions during the retreat.  We are currently digesting all the good information you heard about during the reporting sessions.

The Planning committee,  composed of Steve Fisher, Chuck Marr, Jim Lindquist, Tom Miles, Gene Klingler, Bill Hanson, Don Thomson, Harvey Kiser, Leonard Purvis and yours truly did an excellent job of planning and executing this first-ever event for our chapter.  All indications are that you want to do it again, and I'm sure we will.

Of course we also "had" fun at the Installation banquet, and by the time you see this in print, we will have "had" fun doing Singing Valentines all over the area as well as enjoying the Valentine Afterglow party.  Looks like about 40 of our guys and wives will have been involved there.

Considering that "got" can also be present tense, then we currently have fun preparing for our show each chapter meeting night.  There's great music there and the fun we have in practicing those songs produces great excitement.  I don't know about you, but chapter meeting night is the highlight of my week, and I'm not missing any more than I absolutely have to between now and show time.

We've also "got" fun when we consider that word in the future tense.  Jim Debusman's visit on March 15th, and with other chapters visiting, we will have a great evening.  Then besides the show, we'll be having an open house, church performances this summer, as well as an international convention in  close-by Denver.

In the future also looms the possibility of a return to Ft. Riley, then new music out for the fall, a possible trip to the fall CSD convention in Kansas City.  Then preparation for next year's show will begin, and Christmas will be upon us before we know it.

So yes, we've "got" fun.  The only way you can't have what we've "got" is to stay away!  So come join in the fun and share in all we do.  Both you and us will benefit!
