Hearing excellent barbershop music at International Conventions of our Society is exciting.  Barbershop conventions bring together old friends and new faces from around the world to celebrate the common language of music.  This year’s theme is: Celebrate 50 years of "The Music Man."

What Do You Experience at the International?  Competition: The top international 32 choruses and 50 quartets will be showcased.    This year CSD competing choruses are Ambassadors of Harmony, St. Charles, MO and Heart of America, Kansas City, MO.  Interest in the Collegiate Quartet contest continues to grow.  The qualifying quartets from CSD will be decided at the Spring Convention, April 20-22 in Sioux Falls, SD.  CSD’s 3 Men & A Melody quartet has already qualified.  CSD’s Vocal Spectrum, the 2006 International Quartet, will perform in Sioux Falls and Denver.

Join in the Singing: You'll find plenty of serendipitous opportunities to unite voices with others. No hotel lobby, restaurant waiting area, or street corner is safe from four-part harmony.  Here are just a few samples of where your voice is needed: The Gospel Sing; Sing with the Champion Quartets; Tag Singing; Mega Sing and AHSOW (The Ancient Harmonious Society of Woodshedders).

Entertainment: Association of International Champions (AIC) Show features the greatest quartets of all time; The World Harmony Jamboree showcases the best men's and women's medalists from throughout the world; The Larry Ajer Tuesday Night Concert benefits the Harmony Foundation; and Mixed Harmony Showcase where men and women blend their voices in concert.

Live and Learn: Members have the chance to attend Masters Classes and educational seminars throughout the week.

Tours: Barbershoppers and their spouses have a host of activities specially designed to make their time in Denver entertaining and rewarding. They can choose from a variety of custom-designed tours.  Spouses can join other women in the Ladies Hospitality Room or at the Ladies Breakfast.

How Can You Register?  You can do it Online.  You can also choose your seat.  Go to the website: http://www.barbershop.org/web/groups/public/documents/pages/pub_denver_home.hcsp

At the board meeting Monday, April 9th Don Thomson announced there will be a show costume check on the evening of April 19th.  Members are to wear the costumes that evening so we can make final adjustments prior to the show.

The board decided to accept an offer from the Clay County Economic Development Group to perform on May 3rd in Clay Center.  The chorus will receive a substantial fee and we will be served a meal.  May 3rd is the Thursday after the show, so we will sing show songs.  Members are encouraged to arrange their schedules to be able to sing for this special event rather than taking the week off after the show.

The chorus will participate in the Central States District Chorus Contest at the CSD Convention the weekend of October 20th.  For football fans there is no KSU home game that Saturday.♪

Board meeting notes

Pat Caffey Secretary

Fellow Barbershoppers

If you are planning to sing in the 2007 Spring Show you are asked to be at a full dress rehearsal on April 19th at the regular chapter meeting.

In order to confirm that all participants are properly costumed for the first half of the show, we will need to have all performers’ costumes checked by the costume committee ladies. This will give you one last week to prepare your outfit for the show on April 28th. I am sure that we can take some photos that night to save time at McCain on Saturday April 28th.

If you are not sure that your outfit is approved, April 19th is the time. As is seen elsewhere in this Incider the whole mood for the show will be set by our costumes. We need all participants in the show to be seen at this rehearsal. ♪
