Many of you are coming along very nicely with learning your music. We will have the CD's and Tapes on the 16th, and I am sure that will help many of you. There are three or four songs that will not be on the learning tapes. We will try to give those a little more emphasis during rehearsals. We have been on the risers for three weeks and have seen the general concept of the choreography we will use for three of our songs. This is probably the last you will sing these songs in rehearsal until January. Now, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't look at them between now and then. In December we will be looking at other songs that we will sing on the show...and you will receive two more songs that you have not seen yet. In January we will begin to meet on "show schedule"...which means that we will sing from 7:30 - 10:00. You will also be given a rehearsal plan. I know this has been helpful to you in the past. We will spend at least half of the rehearsal on the risers, so it will be to your advantage to learn the music well before that time. Although we are making good progress with the music, there is still a lot of work to do. Ken is doing a lot of teaching of interpretation now, so if you are not present for rehearsal, he has to teach it again...and again. It is so helpful when we have a full component on Thursday evenings. Please do your best to present at as many rehearsals as you can. We know from experience that January will be here before we know it; then there is our Singing Valentines project; then we will have only eight weeks until our show! The time really does move quickly this time of year, so please do your part on getting off the music as quickly as you can. Finally, I encourage you to be working on your costume. We very likely will want to take some pictures for the slide show with some of you in it. By the time you read this article, you should know what your costume is. If you have trouble with it, don't be afraid to ask your costume advisor about it. Hopefully you will have fun putting it together. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!...and I look forward to seeing you on November 30th! Don Thomson Associate Director ♪ |

I'm pleased to announce that the learning tapes and CD's will be available to pick up at the November 16 meeting. We were only able to get five songs on these helps: "Hey Look Me Over", "Heart", "Give My Regards to Broadway", "Do you Hear the People Sing", and "Sit Down, You’re Rockin' the Boat The Board agreed to underwrite the costs of making this happen, but we do ask that if you want one, please come prepared to throw a couple of dollars into the hat to help recover some of the expense. Thanks! In accordance with copyright laws, you may make your own recording of any of the other songs we sing at Chapter by bringing your own recorder and taping them as we sing. It is illegal to make them for anyone but yourself. Last year, many members found these learning aids to be really helpful to learn the music faster and more accurately.
