Yes, I know, that term is bantered about pretty heavily at this time of year and it is usually associated with those graduating from school to enter a new level of learning or the work force. But that’s not the congratulations I wish to convey. My “congratulations” is to you, loyal chapter member, for your support, participation, and exuberance in making our show such as success. Let’s face it; the phrase “we couldn’t have done it without you” is very true in this case. Without you, we wouldn’t have needed seven risers, extra makeup ladies, and a whole host of additional accoutrements for the production we jointly accomplished. Without you, we wouldn’t have set a new record for number of members performing in our show. Without you, our crowd would not have been as large. Without you, the show would not have been as successful. I would certainly be remiss if I didn’t express appreciation to the leadership of our chapter through this column, from show chairs Jim Lindquist and Don Thomson, to Directors Ken Lang, Don Thomson and Myron Calhoun, to Pat and Paula Caffey for props, to their son Rob for operating the slide show, to Bart Bartholomew for creating wonderful slide presentations, to Sharon Purvis and Telva Swenson for heading up the make-up operation, to Helen Cooper for providing backstage direction, to David Darling and his committee for securing a worthy Award of Harmony recipient and for editing the program, to Dan and Melinda Otto for minding the video cameras set up by Brian Swenson, to Ken Lyle and Drew Horton for securing ushers, to Mike Sexton and Myron Carpenter for heading up the hard work of hauling and setting the risers, to Pete Cooper for providing the impetus for ad sales, to Gary Mott for keeping track of ticket sales, to Bill Hanson for afterglow arrangements, to Harvey Kiser for wonderful publicity and compiling the program, to Karen Nanninga for pictures during the weekend and to the Creative Committee whose planning started the whole process. So while congratulations are certainly in order for all those who headed up the various committees and responsibilities that made our show a success, my congratulations go as well to you, Mr. Chorus Member for your contributions toward this production. You were faithful in attendance, you learned your music, you learned choreography, you were there on time with the right uniform, you helped where you could and together we created an event to remember. Come to think of it, “congratulations” is the right word to use in this instance. For, like the school graduates, we also graduated to a new level of performance. We touched the lives of many through our music and presentations. We advanced in the level of accomplishment and knowledge of our craft. So for all your hard work, support, and effort, I offer you my most sincere CONGRATULATIONS! Bob Swenson President ♪ |

Taking part in our annual spring show gives us the opportunity to experience the thrill of performing on stage before a large audience and the satisfaction of knowing that our music has lifted the spirits of many in our audience. In addition, the show generates funds that support the activities that we all enjoy and the causes that we are proud to help. By far the largest producer of show income is the sale of show program ads. Therefore, I'm delighted to report that we increased our ad income this year by 9.5%. Half of our active members sold ads this year - a sincere thank you to all of them. Pete Cooper Show Program and Ad Chairman ♪ |
