I find it amazing how we can use our personal chapter’s business card that was distributed to each of us ahead of our spring show or since you have become a member. These cards allow us identify ourselves as a chapter member. It is a tool or method to open a conversation with another person. Maybe it is the first time you’ve met. Of course, I found the card useful when selling ads for our show program booklet. You may have also. If the advertiser wished to contact me later, the card showed that person how I could be contacted either by phone and/or email without me having to either verbally providing or writing the information. If I write my contact information, it is difficult to read. Having the card in these situations made it easier to conduct the business of selling ads to our corporate sponsors. In fact, I found it interesting to see a surprise acknowledgement from the other person to whom I gave the chapter card. I would like to know how you have used your card. Some of you have already said how having them has been useful. The card can be used as a way to open a conversation about barbershop singing, which I have experienced. When I have visited the first time with a banker and an attorney, the person often would say that they have heard us sing, and one time one of the persons indicated an interest in singing with us. I know some of you carry your chapter card all the time. If you are going to the Harmony University, the International Convention and Contests in Indianapolis, or a district BHS meeting, I will gladly print some additional ones for you. So, there are many ways to use cards. Let us know how you have used them and how it has been beneficial to have your card. Thanks If you need more cards, let me know. For new members, I will obtain your information for your personal card .Harvey Kiser, VP, Marketing and Public Relations |
