The newly installed board meet on Jan. 7 for the annual planning meeting at the West bank clubhouse with Don Thomson as our host. I was very pleased with the attendance and attention that all present gave to the business at hand. One of the big items that we worked on was to update the Vision and Mission statements that were last updated in 1997.  These are published in this issue of the Incider Press and will be considered for adaptation at the next board meeting.

We also worked on the tentative calendar for the next year and even considered going to a two year or more calendar. Because we like having as many members as possible participate in the activities of our chapter we are seeing the need for more advanced planning. How far in advance do you make your personal plans for vacations, schools or family events? So how far in advance do we need to plan for your hobby?  Your input to the board will be considered as the final calendar is put together.

One of the items that have not been resolved is secession planning for board members and especially the officers. After being installed as your president last year and attending COTS it was very clear to me that you need more than on the job training to carry on the business of the chapter. Thanks to some very understanding fellow officers and board members the business of this chapter was carried forward.  I feel very strongly that we need to move to having a president-elect on the board. When it comes time for the election this fall I would hope we could move in this direction.
