I think most know now that Terry Nanninga, our chapter president, felt the need to resign his office.  We understand that it was a tough decision, but one made in good conscience, and for the right reasons.

Terry and Karen have had extra challenges recently with the health concerns of twin granddaughters.  From a personal viewpoint it is always difficult to choose between family and obligations you have taken on.

But the right decision, again, was made.  It is unfair for the chapter to ask for more of Terry's time than he could rightfully give, and the constant dilemma of family versus chapter obligations eventually causes stress to the point that even his personal health was being affected.

So while it would be nice and neat for Terry to have completed "his term", so that our chapter board could continue it's operation unshaken, we have to make adjustments.  Fortunately, your chapter board is a strong and resilient group that will continue to lead the chapter onward to its many goals and successes.

By the time you read this article, new leadership may have been chosen by the board, but it is also time to reflect over the successes of the last 15 months of Terry's leadership.  In doing so, we can only say thanks, Terry, for being so willing to give of your time toward the perpetuation of our chapter.

To even consider accepting the presidency of this group when you live 50 miles from its base of operations shows great courage.  Terry agreed to not let the distance or time barriers be a deterrent to his service, and has served us well, both as an officer and as the gentlemen he truly is.

So the Manhattan Chapter Barbershop ship will sail on with a new captain, but Terry can proudly stand with all other past chapter presidents, knowing he held the helm steady during his tenure and kept us on course and away from whirlpools of dissent and storms of failure.  For countless hours of service willingly given, and for the willingness to charge full speed ahead into uncharted waters, we can only say - -

 Thank You, Terry!                                                              Anonymous" ♪
