Now is the time to seek sponsors and support from community and business leaders for our performing arts organization. Obtaining corporate, super patron and patron ads for our spring show program booklet permits us to present a quality show on April 29 at McCain as well as use the net proceeds to support music in our schools and communities. We carry out our music projects in our local communities and through our Society’s Harmony Foundation. Use the information that Pete Cooper gave us a couple weeks ago about cost and number of complimentary tickets for each level of support. If you have questions, ask any of us how we go about meeting and asking people for their support. Ask Jim Lindquist, Harvey Kiser, Don Thomson, Frank Carpenter and many others who have done this for many years. I think it is a cool thing that we have the opportunity to tell people about what we believe in -- our music and our organization. This is more than a Manhattan effort. We sing in other communities as well, and thankfully receive support from people and businesses there. We do have quite a marketing area knowing where we all live. Our area is bounded by Axtell, Clay Center, Linn, Riley, Milford, Ft. Riley, Junction City, Council Grove, St. George, Wamego, Westmoreland and Waterville. All of us are Marketing and Public Relations Representatives. Harvey Kiser ♪ LET’S TALK WITH OTHERS ABOUT WHAT WE ENJOY – SINGING, SINGING AND SUPPORTING MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS |

When I was in high school I sang in the chorus and played the trumpet in band. I really didn't do any other singing except in some church groups. Several of us guys from church would go to Wichita and listen to the gospel quartet performances at the Forum, which is now the Century Two Convention Center. Those were great quartets. One of my favorite songs I remember hearing is 'His Eye Is On The Sparrow'. Joyce and I have three children and six grandchildren who enjoy music very much. Our oldest son Kevin has sang for 20 years in the Do-Wop quartet Streetside. Singing in the chorus has been a great enjoyable experience. |

My first introduction to barbershop singing was when Bill Hanson invited me to come sing with the group before it was chartered with the society. This was in 1976 when Bill, Bob Swenson and I were attending a Dale Carnegie class. Needless to say I became a charter member of the Manhattan Quad-County Chorus. Our chorus has had several name changes over the years. |
