If you reflect upon our past few spring shows and then think of the one which we are currently preparing, you will probably come to the conclusion that our 2007 spring show will most likely include at least one PowerPoint slide show to accompany our singing.  You are correct.  This year’s show will have slide shows to accompany “Brother, Can You Spare A Dime?”, “Friends” and “This Is My Country.”  This article is your invitation to submit a photograph or photographs of the “friends” in your life for possible use in the slide show for “Friends.”

This year I am blessed with five people - Karen Nanninga, Tom Miles, Chaz Martin, Bob Ridley and Don Thomson – who are assisting me in finding photographs for use in the slide shows.  We already have a number of useable photographs; some of these are photographs of our friends and relatives; others are stock photos that we have found on the Internet.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all of the photographs were of people we know and love rather than the unknown subjects in the stock photos?

I invite you to send me photos that you would like to have us consider for use in the show.  I won’t guarantee that we will use your photos, but we would like to have the opportunity to evaluate them for possible use.  If you bring or send them to one of our weekly meetings, I promise to handle them with care, scan them, and return them the next meeting.

As we are preparing the slides for “Friends,” we are not necessarily trying to match the song’s lyrics with the photos.  We are merely trying to assemble slides that show “friendship” in many different settings.  Your friends need not be only people; a photo of you and your pet may be just the photo we decide we want for a given slide.

Although I have asked specifically for photos of friends, I do not mean to imply that we won’t accept other photos for possible use with the other two songs.  If you do want to submit photos for “Brother, Can You Spare A Dime?” or “This Is My Country”; however,  please select photos that you think will match a given phrase within the song and then include the phrase with the photo.

When you see your photograph projected on those two 8-foot wide by 6-foot high screens in McCain Auditorium, you will swell with pride.  We look forward to receiving your photographs.
