Loren was born on a farm near Nashville, KS, a mainly German community.  His father was a Methodist pastor and the family moved to other locations in the state over the years.

Loren first sang in a double sextet in Clearwater High School singing Gay Nineties music at various locations. After he graduated from Southwestern College with a degree in Music Education, he was drafted into the Army, had basic training at Ft. Riley and spent a year in Korea playing in the Division band and driving a Jeep.  As a civilian again he received a Master’s Degree at the University of Northern Colorado and taught music and German in Kansas schools for 10 years.  He worked with student quartets and once substituted in a local quartet.  He received degrees in German Language and Literature from Michigan State University.  For 30 years he was a professor of German and of Second Language Acquisition at KSU, retiring in 1995.

Loren and his wife, Donna, have sung in Church choirs through the years.  They have three daughters (Cindy, Lori and Keri) who live in Texas, Missouri and California.  They have five grandchildren.  One granddaughter now in New York City has a musical theatre performance degree and will travel with a troupe to perform The King and I in China.

Loren sings baritone and is a great addition to our Chorus.  He is looking forward to singing with us in the spring show and at other Chorus events.

Seven or eight members of the Little Apple Chorus attended and applauded David Davis for his performance for his Senior Recital March 13 in the All Faiths Chapel.  David is a senior in music education at K-State and has been a member our chapter for several years.  We appreciate his music talent.  More recently we appreciate his directing.  He did a great job in directing ‘This Little Light of Mine’ at our Clay Center Performance.  His talent and energy are contagious.
