The Manhattan Chapter

  •  an a cappella chorus and an official chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society

  •  chartered in 1977

  •  has members from Axtell, Centrailia, Council Grove, Junction City, Manhattan, St. George, Topeka, Wamego, Waterville and Westmoreland. 

Chapter's Vision

         To proclaim, perpetuate and enjoy the a cappella music art form with  emphasis on the barbershop style.

Barbershop Harmony Society

 Our legal name:  The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of   BarberShop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA)

 Barbershop-style a cappella music is four-part harmony with an "expanded sound" created by its unique chord structure.

 Barbershop Harmony Society is:

  • 820 chapters in the United States and Canada
  • 30,000 members
  • 2000 registered quartets
  • Affiliated organizations worldwide and
  • Nearly 50 staff & thousands of volunteer leaders

 The Society's Motto is:  "Keep the whole world singing."
